Fireflies or lightning bugs as they are sometimes called, are fascinating insects. They are actually winged beetles that produces a light, and are found in temperate and tropical environments. I was so curious on how these little creatures could generate light, that I caught one and put it under a microscope. As I slowly focused in on its abdomen, I was shocked when I saw a tiny label that read, “Insert batteries here”. Eveready has some explaining to do.

  1. I did the very same thing with what I thought was a grasshopper–when I got it under the microscope, its body read, “Batteries not included.” Mother Nature shops at Wal-Mart now? Dayam..
