U.S. & World History – Bing Crosby (May 3, 1903 – October 14, 1977) was an American singer and actor. His trademark warm bass-baritone voice made him the best-selling recording artist of the 20th century, having sold over one billion records, tapes, compact discs and digital downloads around the world. A little known fact about him was he really got depressed over the holiday season. His loneliness stemmed from his desire to marry a full figured woman he secretly fell in love with, that weighed over 300 pounds. He actually tried to show his feelings by sneaking the lyrics in a holiday season classic. Even though Decca Records caught what he was doing and made him change it back, Crosby still wanted to sing his version which was, “I’m, dreaming of a wide Christmas…”
