My trip to Washington, D.C. (Part 1 of 5) After performing some comedy downtown, my friend Don took me to see the Washington Monument. As we approached this towering historic landmark, I have to admit that I was awestruck. This massive majestic structure could easily be seen from miles away as it glowed from the countless floodlights that surrounded it. Because it was night and after hours, he asked me if I would like to go back the following morning. I told him I definitely would, but before we went there, I wanted to stop by a store to buy some balloons and fill them with water, so I could toss them from the top of the monument at the visiting tourists below. Even though he obviously didn’t agree with my version of fun, I still think it was improper of him to dump me off in a rough neighborhood, just to teach me a lesson on how to be more patriotic. Fortunately for me, the group of thugs that chased for me for a couple of blocks only wanted my watch and wallet.
