BREAKING NEWS – Chicago, Illinois – The Chicago Police Department is expected to announce plans to hire nearly 1,000 new officers in the next two years. The hiring surge, which would be the biggest in the city since the 1980s. Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson stated, “When I became superintendent, I pledged that I would look at the CPD from top to bottom to see what we could do to improve the city of Chicago. I think this is one of the ways we could do it.” However, everyone wasn’t completely supportive of the additional law enforcement. Al Sharpton denounced what he considered a potential problem with the new plan in a tweet. “I’m against seeing a police presence in the parts of Chicago where there are daily murders”, said Sharpton. “Because it might make law abiding citizens in those high crime areas feel uncomfortable if a cop ever gave them a suspicious glance.”
