I was explaining to a friend of mine who is thinking about becoming a Christian, the importance of learning the joy of giving. I told him that once he acquired that mindset according to Jesus, he’d build up treasures in heaven. He said his only concern with that was how accurate were God’s record on this subject. My friend who happened to be an accountant, explained that he didn’t mind “paying it forward”, as long as he can get a receipt for every time he displayed an act of kindness. He went on to say that this would insure that he would get all of the treasures in heaven he was entitle to, after he compare his receipts to what God has, when he eventually stood before Him. I was thinking to myself “the joy of documented giving?” What an idiot!
