Dear Blake,

My big sister lives about an hour away from me. Anytime she comes over here, she brings her three kids that are 7, 8, and 9. And every time she stops by, her energetic kids manage to break something, and she never offers to pay for my damaged or destroyed property. She is family, so what should I do?

Dear Charlene,

The importance of the bond between you and your sister can never be understated. But I don’t think you are under any obligation to nurture a relationship with her miniature thugs. Do not tolerate them misbehaving in your home, and take immediate action the next time they do! If you know ahead of time that she is bringing her little punks with her, be prepared. Here’s an idea, get a high powered hose like the ones used by the fire department, and have it hooked up to the nearest fire hydrant. When the boys are starting to display their aggressive behavior, turn the hose on them, pinning them in a corner. And when the wall gets soggy, enough, you can blast them through the plaster out onto the lawn, and off of your property. You should also buy some earplugs, unless you think you can ignore your sister’s blood-curdling screams while you’re on the attack Your home insurance will pay for the damage, and you should sue your sister if your rates get raised. Either way, you’ll be the most popular topic of connersationn at your next family reunion. I hope this helps.
