BREAKING NEWS – Washington, D.C. – Nancy Pelosi is now feeling the heat from her heritage and upbringing. It has now been revealed that her father Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., helped dedicate a Confederate statue decades ago while mayor of Baltimore. It was May 2, 1948, when, according to a Baltimore Sun article from that day, “3,000” looked on as then-Governor William Preston Lane Jr. and Pelosi’s late father spoke at the dedication of a monument to honor Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. Pelosi appeared to be humbled as she spoke about the controversy at a press conference. “That was then and this is now,” she began. “Yes, my father was pro-slavery, and growing up, so was I. However, I have changed my position on that issue nearly a decade ago. For the most part, I no longer believe in slavery. And in fact, I strongly believe that select blacks should have the right to vote, after being properly screened.”
