BREAKING NEWS – Washington, D.C. – As thousands of protesters took to the streets of Cuba, calling for an end to the country’s communist regime, U.S. lawmakers are speaking out on social media in solidarity with the demonstrations.

However, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who has previously defended some of the policies of Cuba’s previous communist dictator Fidel Castro, repeatedly dodged questions about the current issue until he was mobbed by reporters.

“Well, let me be clear,” began Sanders. “President Miguel Díaz-Canel is a weak leader. If I were him, I’d round up all of the protesters and put them in jail, and everyone in that country that more than a million dollars a year, they’d be standing in front of a firing squad!”
