While waiting at a bus stop, a stranger and I began a conversation about the U.S. flag. He said he saw nothing wrong with burning it, and he wanted my opinion. After giving it some thought, I told him that I wouldn’t have a problem with him burning the flag, but under two conditions. It would have to be soaked in gasoline, and the person had to then drape the flag over them before lighting it, and it would remain on them until every thread went up in smoke. When he explained to me that following my suggestion will probably cause some serious third degree burns, I responded that might be true, but the injuries won’t be nearly as bad as if he gave his idiotic opinion on this subject surrounded by veterans… with no cops in the vicinity. Moron.
