BREAKING NEWS – New York City, New York – Speaking to CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” Bernie Sanders, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, pointed to social welfare programs introduced under Fidel Castro’s regime that he described as redeeming, despite the communist dictator’s often repressive human-rights violations against Cubans. “We’re very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba but you know, it’s unfair to simply say everything is bad.” Sanders told Anderson Cooper. “But most importantly, his political enemies had access to free health care, and they often used it after Castro had them jailed and beaten.”
